Tehran is willing to restart atomic talks with Washington provided that it is handled with "dignity" and "respect", Tehran's top diplomat has declared.

The Iranian diplomat stated solely negotiations produced results, and shared fresh requests had originated from mediators to restart negotiations with the American leadership. He claimed Iran did not have undeclared nuclear sites, and Tehran could not yet authorize the global atomic watchdog to inspect attacked atomic facilities for protective measures.

Walking a Difficult Route

The foreign minister is walking a complex path since Iran aims to avoid appear to be proceeding from a position of vulnerability, and he emphatically stated that Iran had arisen stronger defensively and psychologically from the joint assault on its atomic facilities in June.

Afterward, European countries employed their privilege to reinstate international penalties, but Iran maintains they have not had a substantial consequence.

Perfect Agreement Proposed

Iran's diplomats said they felt they had reached a "magic solution" to the nuclear fuel concern in prior discussions, when it was decided an Iran-based consortium with Washington's engagement could process nuclear material. Both sides would have been able to claim victory since home-based processing would have continued and the US could be certain that Iran's enrichment initiative was entirely non-military.

It had not been agreed in the discussions that Washington's technical specialists could operate within Iranian territory, but that was a logical implication of the cooperative offer. Diplomats asserted repeatedly they had secured an understanding with the US representative the US official only for the arrangement to fall apart due to "spoilers in Washington".

Current Status

Iran's diplomats stated the partnership proposal was now withdrawn, but it seems quite possible the offer could be reintroduced in certain ways if talks reopen.
